VocabSnap ("the App") is designed to respect your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data the App collects, how it is used, and your rights regarding that data.
2. Data We Do NOT Collect or Store
- The App does not keep, manage, or store your data on any server or database.
- All captured vocabulary words are stored exclusively in your device's local storage (on-device).
- The developer does not provide backup or cloud storage services for your data.
- The developer has no access to your captured words, flashcards, or any content you create within the App.
3. User-Managed Exports
- You may optionally export your captured words to your own GitHub account, share via standard iOS sharing, or export in various formats (CSV, JSON, etc.).
- All export destinations are controlled by you. The developer has no access to data you export.
4. Data We May Access
- Email Address: Only if you voluntarily provide your email address (e.g., to enter a promotional discount draw). This email is stored locally on your device and may be used solely for the purpose stated at collection.
- Anonymous Analytics: The App uses Apple's standard anonymous, aggregated analytics data, which may include general usage statistics. This data cannot identify individual users.
- Firebase Analytics: The App uses Firebase for remote configuration and anonymous analytics. Firebase may collect device identifiers and usage data as described in Google's privacy policy.
5. Camera Usage
- The App uses your device camera to capture images of text for vocabulary extraction.
- Camera images are processed by sending them to third-party AI services for text recognition and vocabulary analysis.
- Images are transmitted solely for the purpose of processing and are not stored, retained, or archived by the developer after processing is complete.
6. Third-Party AI Services
- The App sends camera images to third-party AI providers (such as Google Gemini, OpenAI, and Anthropic) for vocabulary extraction processing.
- The AI provider used may change over time. The App uses the provider's API solely for text extraction purposes.
- Each AI provider has its own privacy policy and data handling practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these providers.
- The App may route requests through a proxy server for reliability and configuration purposes.
7. Third-Party Services Summary
- Firebase (Google): Remote configuration, anonymous analytics
- AI Providers: Vocabulary extraction from images (e.g., Google Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic)
- Apple: App Store, subscription billing, anonymous analytics
8. Data Security
- Sensitive credentials (such as GitHub Personal Access Tokens) are stored in your device's secure Keychain, not in plaintext storage.
- All network communications use HTTPS encryption.
- The App does not transmit personal information, passwords, or login credentials to the developer's servers.
9. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
10. Your Rights
- Since all your data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it at all times.
- You can delete all App data by deleting the App from your device.
- If you provided an email address for promotional purposes, you may delete it by reinstalling the App.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date above.
